Kenneth Duaine McGahey, Sr., 77, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 23, 2010, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born February 22, 1933 in Hartford City, the son of Howard Kenneth and Pauline Ruth (Pierson) McGahey and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1951.
Mr. McGahey was a member of Teamsters Local #135 retiring in 1990. He was also a member of Eagles Lodge F.O.E. #231, Sons of the American Legion Post #19, and the Men's Auxiliary of the VFW Post #61.
Surviving are his wife of forty-eight years, Virginia (Shaw) McGahey; eight children, Steven McGahey (wife, Jennifer), Elwood, Cathy Cobb (husband, Tim), Yorktown, Kenneth McGahey, Jr., Arizona, Howard McGahey (wife, Michelle), Fort Dodge, IA, Sherry Pierce, Jasper, Kathlene, Melinda, and Kimberly; twenty-five grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Shirley Dean McGahey (wife, Paddy), Muncie; a sister, Janice Maisey (husband, Fred), Sun City, AZ; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010 in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, or one hour prior to services on Monday.
