Knox Slaven, 85, went to be with the Lord Thursday April 19, 2007 at Liberty Village Nursing Home in Muncie . He was a member of Holy Trinity Luthern Church . He was born in Jamestown , TN December 7th, 1921 to Caney Slaven and Ida (Delk) Slaven. He worked in the timberwoods, and retail stores until he moved to Muncie in 1962. He worked at Indiana Bridge 17 years before retiring. He also served in the U.S. Army. He loved antiques and collecting old license plates.
He married Lola (Wilson) Slaven on April 30, 1960, she survives, also one daughter Brenda (John) White of Hendersonville, TN, four sons, Donald (Sandra) Wilson Jamestown, TN, Ronald (Deborah) Wilson, Eddie (Chris) Slaven, David (Jennifer) Slaven all of Muncie, 10 grandchildren, Lesamara Oliver, Adam (Valorie) White, Jonas White, Rachel White of Nashville, TN, Greg (Tabatha) Owens of Jamestown, TN, Brian Wilson, Reah Burton, Devin Slaven, Lauren Slaven, Michael Slaven of Muncie, one brother, Roy (Gina) Slaven of Fairborn, OH, 12 great-grandchildren, two Aunts, one uncle, six nieces, one sister-in-law, Thelma King, one brother-in-law, Porter Wilson, and lots of cousins and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ralph Slaven and one sister, Avo Turner and her husband Kenneth Turner.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday April 24, 2007 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie . Rev. Kal Rissman will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Christian Ministries of Delaware County .
