Lawrence Burney "Red" Butler Jr., 90, of Albany passed away Wednesday March 20, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Muncie on August 14, 1922 to Lawrence Sr. and Mildred (Swallow) Butler.
Lawrence was a graduate of Muncie Central High School and of the Indiana Business College. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran. Lawrence spent the major part of his career as an accountant for the Ball Corporation and retired in 1987 after 38 years of service. Several other work positions he held were as an accountant of the State of Indiana for 8 years, projectionist at the Sky-Hi Drive-In for 15 years, and a local musician, as a drummer, for over 60 years.
Memberships include Grace Episcopal Church, Muncie, life member of the Muncie Musicians Association Local 245, Ball Corporation Quarter Century Club, and local projectionists union.
Survivors include loving wife of 70 years Betty Rose (Watson) Butler of Albany; children John (Phyllis) Butler of Matthews, Sharon Butler of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Judith (Rick) Reese of Lawrenceburg, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by both parents and son Thomas Butler.
There will be no calling or services at this time per Mr. Butler''s request.
