Lawrence Jean Robbie'' Robinson, 87, of Muncie, IN, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010 at The Waters of Yorktown. He was born on January 14, 1923 in Hartford City, IN to the late Ralph Howard and Gladys E. (Chilton) Robinson. Robbie is a 1941 Hartford City High School graduate. Robbie also attended Indiana Business College. Robbie served in the Navy from 19421947. And on November 17, 1950 he married his love, Carolyn Sue Ketcham.
Robbie was a County Auditor in Blackford County for 8 years starting in the 50s. He also initiated the Disabled American Veteran''s Chapter in Blackford County. Robbie had a combined work history of 35+ years as a sales representative for J & K Stone & Gravel and the Irving Brothers Stone, Gravel & Concrete. Robbie also attended St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Additionally, Robbie loved to travel, drive, golf and fish, and loved to watch NASCAR and basketball on TV.
Robbie is survived by his loving wife of 59+ years, Carolyn Robinson; their children: Carmelita Smith (husband, Skip) of Yorktown; Lawrence Jean Robinson, Jr. (wife, Kay) of Muncie; Michele Banks (husband, Darryl) of Edmond, OK; and Kevin Robinson of New York City, NY; 5 grandchildren: Jason Robinson (wife, Autumn); Jeffrey Robinson (wife, Christine); Brandon Smith; Benjamin Smith; and Jasmine Banks; and 2 great-grandchildren: Braiden and Aubrey Robinson.
Robbie was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Ralph Howard Robinson, Jr.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 9, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. The funeral service will be on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with an additional hour visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military rites honored by Veteran''s of Delaware County Honor Guard.
