Leonard Wayne Garringer, 87 of Muncie , died Wednesday, December 28, at Liberty Village in Muncie. He was born September 7, 1929, and was the son of the late David Carl and Lula Erma (Arnold) Garringer.
Leonard proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He worked as a repairman for Indiana Bell for 31 years. He was a member of the Farmland Conservation Club and served as a Boy Scout leader. He was a lifetime member of the Communication Workers of America. Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Priscilla L. Garringer; two sons, Michael W. Garringer (Jeanne A.) of Muncie, Ronald G Garringer (Terri L.) of Parker City; one grandson, Jeremy G. Garringer, of Parker City; four granddaughters, Karen A. Ailes of Allen, Texas, Julie M. Garringer of Parker City, Sarah L. Ton of Chesterton, Indiana, and Stephanie E. Garringer of Greenfield, Indiana; four great-grandchildren, Mark G., Colin A., Leah M., and McKenzie S. Garringer; a brother, Richard Earl Garringer (Mary); two sisters, Esther Geirhardt of Winchester, and Charlotte Parks of Muncie. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Dale Garringer and William David Garringer and two sisters, Velma Whitted and Norma Neargartner.
Funeral Services for Leonard will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
