Leonard L. Overton, 83 of Indianapolis, IN formerly of Brownsburg, IN passed away on Saturday February 22, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. Born on June 3, 1930 in Beech Grove, IN he was the son of the late Mathew and Pansy (Baird) Overton.
On August 5, 1951 he married Jean (Stanley) Overton in Indianapolis.
Leonard proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Naval Avionics as a process engineer for 35 years, retiring in 1985. Later he became a real estate broker in the Indianapolis area for many years. It was also important to Leonard to spend quality time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His memberships included Bethesda Baptist Church in Brownsburg, where he served as a deacon, then later attending Faith Baptist Church in Avon.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Jean Overton of Brownsburg; son Leonard(Margo) Overton of Brownsburg; daughters Denise (Rick) Jackson of Greenwood and Julie (Duane) Pulliam of Danville; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother Walter (Rosemary) Overton of Brownsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Rebecca Newby.
A private graveside service will be held for Leonard at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown, IN with entombment following.
