Leslie Eugene Murray, 85, of Muncie, IN died Sunday December 23, 2012 at Westminster Village after an extended illness.

Les was born September 10, 1927 in New Castle, Indiana to Elmer Cecil and Mary Katherine Murray. Mr. Murray retired from US postal Service after 42 years, and was active and retired from the Army Reserves. After retirement, he volunteered for many years at Ball Memorial Hospital and worked at several golf courses in Muncie / Delaware county area. He was an avid golfer and bowler, having bowled a perfect 300 game at the age of 65.

He is survived by one son, Michael (Lynn) Murray of Anderson, IN. Grandchildren include Stephen Murray, Matthew Murray, and Kristin (Rocky) Lyons all of Anderson, IN and Amber Murray of Austin, Texas. He had three great grandchildren Austin, Gracie and Avery all of Anderson. Also surviving is one brother, Byron (Barbara) Murray of Gas City, IN, one uncle, Pete Murray of Kannapolis, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Les was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Kent Murray and one sister, Rosalie Sumwalt.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the IUH Ball Memorial Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
