Obituary

Angels arrived Wednesday, October 24, 2018.  Lewis E. Heaton, age 54, born in Muncie, IN, was surrounded by his wife, family, and friends when he lost his 17-month battle against brain cancer.  We know God has bigger plans for him as he needed his work to begin in Heaven.

Lewis was a natural and gifted farmer.  He began farming at an early age with his late father, E. Lewis.  Farming was his passion and he practiced his passion for 40 years.  He always said, "I have been blessed to love what I do."  His passion and work ethic is what allowed him to become one of the top farmers in Delaware County.

Lewis was kind, generous and selfless.  He would make time for others and provide guidance and words of encouragement.  Lewis would often say, "It will all work out" or "God will take care of it."

At the age of 52, Lewis found out that God had a new field for him to farm.  This field would require grace, courage, and strength.  This strength could have only been provided by God.  Anyone who talked or met Lewis was inspired by his faith and determination.  During his fight, he taught us how to live, regardless of our situation.  During this, Lewis planted seeds of love, patience, forgiveness, joy, and compassion.  He never wavered from God.  The seeds he planted will grow endlessly and his wish would be for each of us to continue to plant seeds in others.

Lewis leaves behind three beautiful daughters: Dr. Wendy Heaton, Natalie Heaton (fiancé, Samuel Paul), and Piper Heaton, all of whom he loved with all of his heart.  He was a loving husband to Rhonda and will forever be her "Hero".  He was a wonderful step-father to Joshua Schliessman and Dakoda (Mark) Springer.

He will be missed by his mother, Judy Owens and his three sisters: Beverly Mauck (friend, Dennis), Brenda (Rick) Thornburg, and Debbie (Mike) Norrick. He was blessed with an amazing step-mother Diana Heaton.  He will be greeted by his father, E. Lewis, and his step-father, Larry Owens in heaven.

He will be missed by all of his entire extended family:  Jerry and Shirley Liggett, Becky and Mark Szalwinski, Reashea and Craig Reed, and many nieces and nephews that were blessed to have an Uncle like Lewis.

His best friend and golf partner, Darin Tobias, will forever be hitting a golf ball for Lewis until they meet again in Heaven.

So we ask that you don't be sad for Lewis because his eternal Harvest has just begun.

In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you take a moment to hug your husband or wife, tell your kids you love them, and give an act of kindness just because.  Enjoy the beauty God has given you and plant seeds that will reproduce over and over with love.
