Lila Lee (McGriff) Irwin went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 12, 2016.
She joins her husband, Curtis Gilbert Irwin, father and mother Harry B. McGiff and Laura Myers McGriff Compton George. Her brother, Harry McGriff, and sister Lenora Fruit.
She was born in Muncie on July 20, 1924, and she lived for a while in Hartford City. She attended Muncie Schools.
She worked as secretary and bookkeeper for their business, Irwin''s TV and Antenna.
She was a faithful member of Yorktown United Methodist Church in which she served as Sunday school and Bible school teachers. She was a member of United Methodist women and sang in the choir. Recently she served on the Nurture committee, calling on shut-ins.
She enjoyed traveling with Overland Tours with family and friends, bowling, Euchre Club, reading, needle work, working puzzles and sewing for R.S.V.P. She was a huge Indiana Pacers fan.
Survivors include her daughter, Loretta Irwin Grimes Hiatt; her son, Tony Curtis Irwin (wife Joyce); her granddaughter, Daphne Grimes Rhodes, (husband Tony); Grandson, Richard Alan Grimes; 1 step-grandson, Sean McDonald; 2 great-grandsons Sam and Dustin Rhodes, and 1 great-grandaughter, Jade Grimes; 1 step-great granddaughter, Kaylee McDonald; 3 great-great grandsons and one great-great granddaughter; a sister Barbara Penrod (husband Richard); 2 brothers, Bill McGriff (wife Alice) of Hartford City; and Brother-in-law, Danny Irwin (wife Bonnie); 2 sisters-in-law Marjorie Dunlap and Carolyn Neal; and many nieces and nephews.
She will be sadly missed but happy to join her loved ones in heaven.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie, IN 47303 with funeral services immediately thereafter with Pastor Peter Curtis and Chaplin Gary Kirchoff officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
