Obituary

Livvie B. McCowan, 89, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at her granddaughter's residence, Darlene McKensie's, in Yorktown, following an extended illness.
She was born April 20, 1920, in Monterey, Tennessee, the daughter of Alastus and Clarice (Brown) Bilbrey. She grew up in Tennessee, moved to Dunkirk in the late 1940's and to Muncie in 2000.
She was employed at Indiana Glass for many years prior to her retirement.
Mrs. McCowan was a member of Mt. Olive freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Anna Gibson, (husband, Richard), Hartford City, Christine Duncan, (husband, Fred, "Butch"), Muncie, and Jearleen Ingram, (husband, Glen), Muncie; her son-in-law, Richard Blanch, Yorktown; three sisters, Rosa Stoner, Arizona, Laura Hamslely, Florida, and Sarah Phillips, Tennessee; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; thirty-three great-great-grand childlren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur McCowan; her daughters, Noreen McCowan and Ina Blanch; three sisters, Linnie Narrod, Danzy Baldwin and Pansy McCowan; three brothers, Harris, J. R., and Claude Bilbrey; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. James O. McCowan officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 at Parson Mortuary and an hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
