Obituary

Lola Wilma Alwine, 100, of Dunkirk, IN died Friday February 8, 2008 at Millers Merry Manor in Dunkirk. She was born on August 18, 1907 in Sweetser, IN the daughter of Roy Jarrett and Bertha Burnworth. On May 2, 1925 in Marion, IN she married Guy H. Alwine who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Old Whitely Methodist Church in Muncie. She lived for all her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed flowers and ceramics. She retired from Marsh Supermarkets in 1970 after thirty years working in the meat department.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Betty Garcia and Phyllis Williams (Thomas "Red" Claudill) both of Dunkirk, IN; one son, Norman Alwine (Joyce Kendall) of Dunkirk, IN; two sisters, Helen Myers and Marry Morris both of Muncie, IN; eight grandchildren, Donnie G. Williams (Roxanne); Dale E. Williams (Susan); Vickie Gamble (Stan); LuAnn Bates; Gina Rose; Freddie Alwine (Sherry); Eddie Alwine; Frankie Alwine; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Annabelle Robinson; three grandchildren, Rickey Alwine, Patty Nicely; and Darrel Garcia.
Services will be 12:00 noon on Tuesday February 12, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and also on Tuesday starting at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in Memory of Lola Alwine.
