MUNCIE - Brother Lonnell Shaw went home to be with the Lord on Saturday January 23, 2010 after a brief illness.
He was born March 12, 1951 to the proud parents of Richard and Elizabeth Shaw in Clarksville Tennessee.
Lonnell graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1969. He recently retired from Borg Warner Automotive after 38 years of service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 287. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board. He also volunteered for the Circle City Classic Parade Committee in Indianapolis Indiana where he was a member of the Corvette Club.
Lonnell was a loving son, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. He was very dedicated to his family and loved them very much. He was known for his big smile. Anytime he would enter the room he would yell - Hey, Hey, Hey!!! He was very courageous during his sickness and he fought until the very end. His memories will be cherished by all that knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his dear mother, Elizabeth Shaw of Muncie; one daughter, Danielle (Herman) Shaw-Edwards of Muncie; four brothers, Richard Shaw Jr., Dorris (Pauline) Shaw, Donald (Marilyn) Shaw all of Muncie and Dante (Nina) Shaw of Indianapolis IN; six sisters, Shirley McNeill, Imogene Jackson, Mary (William) Hammond, Bette (Wade) Sloss all of Muncie and Estella (Reneau) Simpson, and Debra Shaw-Bradley both of Indianapolis IN; four grandchildren, Elexis Davis, Elasia Davis of Anderson and Makayla Hampton and Treyvon Edwards of Muncie IN; one aunt, Sara Claude of Clarksville TN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Shaw Sr. and niece, Sherria Jackson.
Funeral service is 12:00 p.m. Saturday at True Vine Holiness Tabernacle, with visitation one hour prior. Burial in Gardens Of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
