Lora J. Beckley, 78, of Muncie, went to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, March 25th, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born February 23rd, 1936 in Seventy-Six, KY, and was the daughter of the late Hershel & Edna (Cooksey) Melton. Lora married Eldon Beckley on September 7, 1955.
Lora was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked for many years as a nurse''s aide. She was an active member of the Four Square Gospel Church, before she became ill. Lora will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Lora is survived by her four children; Keith Beckley of Muncie, Lorraine Dorton (Mike) of Muncie, Paul Beckley of Indianapolis, and Steven Beckley (Wanda) of Muncie; five grandchildren, Lea Bowden (Larry), Matthew Beckley, Aaron Beckley, and Seth Beckley; step-grandson Michael Dorton; one brother John Harvey Melton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband Eldon on April 4th , 2011; two brothers Oral and Charley Melton; four sisters, Bonnie Ramey, Edith Hipshire, Reba Griffith, and Marie King.
Funeral Services for Lora will be held Friday, March 28th, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
