L. Maxine "Sally" Gilland, age 90, of Syracuse, IN passed away on Wednesday November 20, 2013 at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, IN. Born on December 31, 1922 in Wabash County, IN she was the daughter of Michael and Marjorie (Phillips) Stineman.
She married Edgar Gilland in June of 1939 and was a dedicated homemaker. The family residence was in Dunkirk, IN until retirement in 1977, where they both moved to Dewart Lake, spending summers there and winters in Eustis, Florida.
Sally was a very loving mother and grandmother and she was also an avid bowler and member of the Dunkirk Elks Lodge #1776.
Survivors include daughter Mary Jane Myers of Syracuse; son Tommy Gilland of Eustis, FL; 5 grandsons Doug (Karen), Dennis (Karen), Derrick (Joy) Myers, and Ken and Chris Gilland; 6 great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Edgar in 2002 and two brothers.
Friends may call on Saturday November 23, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 N. Indiana 3, Muncie, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery, Eaton.
