Obituary

Malachi T. Young, 48, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born August 21, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois. Malachi was a graduate of Ball State University with a degree in Social Work and the University of Phoenix with a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership. He was a Native American Spiritual Advisor with the Department of Corrections and taught Human Services and Criminal Justice at Ivy Tech. Malachi loved learning and helping others.
Malachi is survived by his wife, Eugenia Young; four children, Sarah Montgomery, Joshua Thompson, Jason Thompson, and Rachel Thompson; four grandchildren, Madison Bella, Callie, Lauraly and Malachi Dean; four sisters, Karen Vanderwal, Theelea Tossing, Tyseea Briggs and Treena Scism; one brother, Doug Luzar.
Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN.
Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be directed for Native American Prisoners at Chapel of Correctional Industrial Facility, attention to Malachi Young Fund, 5124 W. Reformatory Rd., Pendleton, IN 46864.
