Manetta June Hertle, 99, of Muncie, died Thursday afternoon, June 26th, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born May 5th, 1915 in Landes Sask, Canada, and was the daughter of the late Elbert Arthur & Annie D. (Reid) Russell.
Manetta retired from Ball State University Bursar''s office after 20 years of dedicated service. She was an accomplished piano player. Manetta was a long time member of the Gaston United Methodist Church. She loved to crochet, and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Manetta is survived by her three children; Robert Marion Hertle (Joretta) of Muncie, Burland Gerald Hertle (Deborah) of Gaston and Lois Eileen Wilcox of Parrish, FL, a sister Ida Marian Griffin of Stuart, IA; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph L. Hertle in 1997, a daughter Beth Anne Hertle, a brother and a sister also preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Manetta will be held Saturday, June 28th, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor John Long officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gaston United Methodist Church, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
