Marcelle Pyatte Skaggs, 93, 0f Muncie, died Tuesday afternoon, July 2nd, 2013 at Morrison Woods Health Campus. She was born August 3rd, 1919 in Avery County, NC, and was the daughter of the Doc & Maude (Franklin) Pyatte.
Marcelle was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a strong believer in God and loved reading her Bible. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and watching birds.
Marcelle is survived by her two daughters, Betty Jean McPeek (Charles) of Muncie, and Christine Collins of Muncie; ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Orville Skaggs; a son Richard Skaggs; three brothers, Alvin, Wade, and Frank Pyatte and two sisters Doreen Brawley and Elma Wilson preceded her in death.
Funeral Services for Marcelle will be held Saturday, July 6th, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with her grandson, Rev. Steven L. McPeek officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. up until the time of the service at 11:30 on Saturday. Memorial Contributions may be made to Huffer Memorial Children''s Center of Muncie, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
