Obituary

Marcia Locey Niccum

After a long battle with dementia, Marcia Locey Niccum peacefully went to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, surrounded by her family who loved her so much.

Marcia was born in Muncie, IN on September 3rd, 1933, passing just shy of her 92nd birthday.

Marcia is survived by her children, Gary and Dena Niccum, Vicki and Steve Jeffers, and Jeff Niccum (all of Muncie), grandchildren, Jason and Cami Niccum (Brownstown, IN), Jared and Laura Niccum (Lafayette, IN), Nathan and Beth Jeffers (Pendleton, IN), Kelli and Brian Shore (Yorktown, IN) and Nic and Kalen Jeffers (Muncie, IN), and ten great grandchildren, Brinley Niccum, Hope Niccum, Davis Niccum, Cameron Shore, Callie Jeffers, Clayton Shore, Henry Jeffers, Rose Jeffers, Carson Shore and Ellie Jeffers.

Marcia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cedric Niccum, parents, Irvin and Thelma Hirons Locey, sister, Janis Hawk and her grandparents, Orville Porter and Ruth Ann Hirons, who raised her, best friends Wanda Dowling, and Pat and Jim VanNatter. Our family is comforted to know she is reunited with the mother she lost at the age of six.

Marcia graduated from Harrison Township school in 1951 where she was a varsity cheerleader. Two weeks before graduation she married the love of her life, Cedric, on April 21st, 1951 when he was on leave from the army. Marcia was a devoted wife, loving mother and homemaker until 1969 when she chose to work in the office of the Indiana American Water Company in Muncie. She proudly served as both Office Supervisor and Supervisor of Distribution until retiring at age 59.

Raised by her maternal grandmother, she was taught to be an amazing cook and would prepare huge meals. She was famous for her noodles. Marcia loved spending time with her family. She had a big toy chest in her family room awaiting great grandkids to come play.

She happily served at her church, Mt. Olive Community Church, where she was active in the women's group, making crafts and helping with all the church activities.

She also loved traveling with her husband and friends, notably to Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, Nova Scotia and Niagara Falls. Marcia was an avid walker, walking 2 miles a day in her neighborhood for many years, and loved to dance with her husband. She was a member of Women of the Moose as they are one of the largest contributors to the support and maintenance of Mooseheart Child City and School and Moosehaven Retirement care facilities.

Marcia leaves a legacy of love and will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Public viewing will be held from noon-2pm on Friday, July 25th at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 State Road 3, Muncie, IN. Funeral will follow at 2pm. Services will be conducted by Steve Jeffers and Pastor Nathan Jeffers.

The family is asking  that contributions be made to Dementia research or Autism research in Marcia Niccum's name.
