Marilyn Louise (Cougill) Mathews was born March 13, 1938 in Huntsville, Indiana on the family farm. The second child of Roger Keith Cougill and Opal V. (Gilliam) Cougill.
Marilyn (Mondy) passed away on January 30, 2016 after a long fight with her illness.
Marilyn attended schools in Winchester, Huntsville, and graduated from Union High School in Modoc, Indiana in 1956 and was still friends with many of her classmates.
Survivors include sons, Jay A. Mathews (Trudy Paige), Speedway and Kurt D. Mathews (wife Seana), Daleville, a grandson Chad Mathews, Speedway, Indiana and granddaughter Maddie Mathews, Daleville. Brother, Duane Cougill, Muncie, sister Carol Saylor (Ray), and their daughter Darleena R. (Dar) Saylor. Niece, Shonda L. Bainter (Jan Boram), Seymour, Indiana a nephew Tony L. Bainter, Muncie, and many in-laws on the Mathews family.
Very close friends Jamie King, Jan Whealy, Karen Kaenyon, Kay Harshman, and Jerome Lewis.
Preceded in death, her husband Ernest L. and parents Roger (Keith) and Opal V. Cougill, sister Sharon L. (Bainter) Holley, her grandparents and several of her in-laws and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and help at the Morrison Woods Health Care and Parker Health Care for all that they did for Marilyn.
Funeral Services for Marilyn will be held Thursday February 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Rush officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to ARF or the Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department.
