Marion A. "Spit Ball" Johnson, 88 of Muncie, IN passed away at his daughter''s home in Indianapolis on June 16, 2012. He was born April 29, 1924 in Yorktown, IN the son of the late, Moses and Sophia (Merkel) Johnson. He was a graduate of the former DeSoto High School. Marion served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps., and upon his discharge in 1946 was a Staff Sgt. For years Marion and his wife, Freda owned and operated Johnson''s TV and Appliance. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge#33, Marion also was a lifetime member of the Masonic Temple F&AM, and was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church. He was married in 1947 to Freda Mae (Dowling) Johnson, who preceded him in death in 2009. Marion was also preceded in death by a son, Jerold Johnson, and a brother, Joseph Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Vicci Craver; grandchildren, Rachelle Phillips (husband,Mike), Jarod Johnson (wife,Lazette), Courtney Barnhill (husband, Travis); great grandchildren, KaitLyne Phillips, Taylor Phillips, Daelyn Johnson, Brinsley Johnson, Noel Barnhill, Grant Phillips, Hunter and Austin Barnhill and Adler Johnson; a sister, Erma Weekley; a sister-in-law Annajene Doherty (husband, Bill). Funeral services will be Wednesday (6/20/12) At 2pm in Garden View Funeral Home, where friends may call from 11am until service time. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
