Marjorie K. “Marge” Hutchinson, of Muncie, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 7, 2026, at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Marge was born on March 20, 1939, to the late John W. and Margaret K. (Rice) Sanderson in Lafayette, Indiana.
Marge graduated from Delphi Community High School and received her bachelor's and master’s degrees in special education from Ball State University. She was a proud and devoted teacher at Muncie Community Schools, where she taught children with special needs for 40 years.
She was married to Floyd Hutchinson in 1960 and together they had a son Charles “Bernie” Hutchinson. She loved creating and traveling with Floyd to see miniature doll house displays. She also loved traveling with the women of Red Hat Society and going to lunch with her retired teacher friends.
Marge is survived by grandchildren, Heidi Hutchinson, Holly Hutchinson and Hannah Hutchinson; her great-grandchildren, Peyton Hutchinson, Jace Meade, Remington Wagener, Josselyn Wagener, Rylan Hutchinson, and Warren McMullen of Marion; and her brother, John D. Sanderson (Betty) of Lafayette as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marge was preceded in death by her son, Charles “Bernie” Hutchinson and her sister Virginia “Ginger” Smith of Attica, IN.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN 47303
Immediately following a service to celebrate Marge’s life will begin at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Kate Muhlbaier.
Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.
