SUMMITVILLE - Marjorie Jean (Beyer) Ritchie, 87, passed away Wednesday morning, February 23, 2011 in Summit Convalescent Center after a short illness.
She was born July 3, 1923 in Muncie, the daughter of Avas M. (Frasher) Beyer and Karl Heinrich Beyer.
A 1941 graduate of Harrison Township High School, Marjorie married Claude Arthur Ritchie February 1, 1942 and spent her life as a homemaker. In addition to farming west of Muncie, Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie spent many years calling and teaching square dancing and were members of both the Whitewater Valley Callers Association and the Indiana State Callers Association.
Survivors include her son, Alan Arthur Ritchie, (wife, Jacqueline), Alexandria; two granddaughters, Amanda Kay May, (husband, Jeremy), Summitville and Sadie Jean Ritchie, Muncie; one cousin, Leo Frasher, Ohio and a special sister-in-law, Ann Ritchie, Muncie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude Arthur Ritchie; her sister, Thelma Beyer and recently by her childhood friend, Virginia Springman.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m., Saturday.
