Former Muncie resident, Mark Duane Anderson was born in Muncie, Indiana on January 16, 1968. He passed away in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
Mark was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Muncie, Indiana. Mark's second home was Union Temple Baptist Church (UTBC) in Washington, D.C., for the past sixteen years, where he enjoyed performing with the Drama Ministry.
Mark graduated from Muncie Central High School and continued his education at both Ball State University (where he received actor of the year award) and Anderson University.
Second to his family, Mark's life passion was acting. He has performed with companies in Muncie, IN including a community-based theater troupe, Expressions; Ball State University Theater; Civic Theater and PINPOINTS of Washington, DC. He has performed in numerous stage productions "CHRIST THE ETERNAL LIGHT", "DREAMS OF A FAR OFF LAND" which was adapted from the musical "The Wizard of Oz", 'Othello the Moor' in Shakespeare's "OTHELLO", August Wilson's "FENCES". "MASTER HAROLD AND THE BOYS", "1001 BLACK INVENTIONS", "RESURRECTION II", "LIFE IS A SIGN OF THE TIMES" and numerous other productions. Mark toured the U.S., Asia and Germany in his role as Rashad in "The Meeting". Other places that were toured by Mark was South America and Africa.
His film and television credits included the "Wedding Crashers", "The Wire" and "The Corner". He was also a voice actor for Internet and television commercials and may be seen in a currently running T.V. commercial for Maryland Lottery.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Royal and Florina McCoy and Jesse and Ernestine McCoy.
His memory is left to be cherished by his parents, Sam and Brenda "Punchie" Anderson; one sister, Samaria Davis (Kevin); five nieces, Chelcee Bester, KD, Saniah, Adyson and Adrianne Davis; one nephew, Quincy Davis. Mark will be deeply missed by his surrogate daughter, Tandu-La "Dula" and her mother, Dessadra Lomax. Mark has a host of aunts, uncles and all his 'C's (cousins), who Mark loved dearly.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1210 S. Hackley Street, Muncie, Indiana, with a visitation two hours prior to service.
Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN.
