Martha V. Fuqua, 88, of Albany, IN, widow of Billy Joe Fuqua, died Friday morning at the Golden Living Center in Muncie, following Alzheimer''s related illness.
Martha V. Fuqua was born September 6, 1922 in Delaware County Indiana. Her parents were the late John C. and Nellie Marie Cooley. She also had two sisters, Cordelia and Helen. She attended Eaton High School in Eaton, IN. She was married to the late Billy Joe Fugua for 45 years. They had two children together, Janice and John. She lived at her home in Albany for many happy years.
Martha was very active in the community. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Omega-Nu sorority. She was an active Country Clubbers member, Garden Club member, Farm Bureau member, and member of various other organizations in Delaware County. She also worked at election times in the voting precincts in Desoto.
Martha was an excellent seamstress, winning many awards at the County and State fairs. She enjoyed painting pictures of landscapes and wildlife in oil and acrylic, painting Christmas decorations, woodworking, and other arts and crafts.
She is survived by daughter Jan Jaromin, wife of Norbert Jaromin of Eaton; son John Fuqua of Gaston; sister Helen Bedwell, wife of Jim Bedwell of Columbia City; grandson Eric Jaromin of Dahlonega, GA; great grandson Keighan Miller, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday April 5, 2011 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
