Mary L. (Stockton) Asberry, 87, of Portland, IN, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Portland. She was born on September 29, 1922 in Savage, KY to the late Charles Stockton and Dilla I. Cross Stockton Beaty.
Mary was a homemaker. She also loved to quilt and was an avid book reader. Mary was also a former member of Gaston''s Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by her children: Joy George (husband: Warren) of Alexandria, VA and Max Asberry (wife: Deborah) of Indianapolis, IN; sister Anna Beaty of Laingsburg, MI; and 3 grandsons: Jonathan George; Ryan Asberry; and Andrew Asberry.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Oral Asberry of 28 years; brother Glenn Stockton; sister Alma Austin; and grandson Nathan George.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 18, 2009, from 1:003:00 p.m at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie, IN. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. Warren George will officiate the service.
