Mary E. Bettegnies, 92 of Muncie, IN passed away Monday August 25, 2008 at Westminster Village Care Home, Muncie. She was born on November 26, 1915 in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Joseph B and Lona (Ash) Self. Her family moved to Muncie during her teenage years. On November 25, 1980 in Las Vegas, Neveda : she married Eugene A. Bettegnies whom precedes her in death.
She graduated from Muncie High School in 1935, and attended High Street United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Avondale Sympathy Club; Mary was formally employed at Tussey''s Fine Fashions retiring at the age of 80. Mary was a office manager for Dr. Fletcher McDowell (Muncie Surgical). Both patients and customers remember her as a caring and loving person. Mary moved to Westminster Village during the fall of 2006. Until then she lived at home with the help of her good friends and neighbors, Dan and Robin Taylor.
Survivors include, a sister-in-law Rosemary (Cimino) Tasson, her nephew Edger Self, Gene''s family and good friends, Dan Taylor (wife Robin), of Muncie. She leaves many friends to cherish her memories including, Adda and Dick Boyd, Rita and Myer Becker, Mary and Dan House, Corrinne Moore Thelma Ross, Connie Carter, and Dr. Janie McDowell.
She was preceded in death by husband; Eugene Bettegnies, son; James R. Cole; two brothers; Edger and Joseph Self.
There will be no services or visitation; Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 in Muncie, Indiana 47303 is in charge of the arrangements. Entombment will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie.
