Mary Dean Johnson, 92, of Muncie, died Tuesday morning, October 13th, 2015 at the Lynd House. She was born July 10th, 1923 in Eaton and was the daughter of the late Lloyd & Clara (Merkey) Gourley.
Mary retired in 1979 as the assistant bursar from Ball State University. She was also employed with Ontario Manufacturing for 12 years. Mary was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodge and the Crestview Ladies Golf Association. She was a very active bowler, loved to play bingo, and traveling to Las Vegas to visit the casinos. Mary enjoyed traveling and being a very active and outgoing individual.
Mary is survived by three sisters; Pauline Hess, Joyce Rogers, and Barbara Martin (Ed) all of Eaton; her caregiver and niece Paulette Carnes (Tim) of Muncie; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Orville R. Johnson; six brothers Harold, Donald, Wendell, Lawrence, Merrill, and Norman Gourley; a sister Louise Johnson.
Funeral Services for Mary will be held Friday, October 16th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
