Mary Esther Rector, age 69, of LaGrange, KY passed away at home with her adoring family by her side. She was born September 24, 1941 in Yorktown, IN to Howard O. and Esther (Perkins) Mellott. She married Sam Rector and he preceded her in death on November 20, 2001.
Mary was a homemaker who loved to volunteer with Brownies and other groups as well as spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and loved to play cards, other games and collect pigs. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be sorely missed.
Mary is survived by her son, Sam Rector, Jr. (wife Mikki) of Muncie; daughters, Cynthia Hersley (husband Junior) of LaGrange, Ky, and Chris Baker (husband John) of Farmland, IN; brother, Barton Mellott (wife Helen) of Greenfield, IN; sister-in-law, Linda Mellott of Muncie; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, and several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Earl and David Mellott.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303 with burial to follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation is from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one''s choice.
