Obituary

Matilda M. (Roe) Bickford, 74, of Muncie, IN, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009, on her anniversary, at Willow Bend Living Center, Muncie. She was born on July 26, 1934 in Seamon, OH to the late Amil and Rebecca J. (Vance) Roe. She married the love of her life, Alvie J. Bickford on June 16, 1951 in Jeffersonville, IN.
Matilda worked as an animal caretaker for Ball State University, retiring in 2000. She also enjoyed traveling, making beautiful needle work, listening to music, and dancing. She also loved her grandchildren very much. Matilda was a member of Ball State Sympathy Club.
Surviving relatives include her loving husband of 58 years, Alvie J. Bickford of Muncie; sons Donald G. Bickford (wife: Barbara) of Muncie, IN; Ronald L. Bickford (special friend: Laura Neeley) of Parker City, IN; Michael E. Bickford (wife: Rhonda) of Muncie, IN; and Kenneth D. Bickford (wife: Lisa) of Parker City, IN; daughter Karen S. Martin (husband: Wayne) of Mooreland, IN; brother Sam Roe of Tampa, FL; 6 grandchildren, Tanya Fanelli; Rob Martin; Lori Williams; Ryan Bickford; Kyle Bickford; and Kenadee Bickford; 3 step-grandchildren, Justin Gilbert; Megan Noble; and Cody Alford; 5 great-grandchildren, Damon Goodman; Kelsey Williams; Nathan Williams; Brittany Martin; and Sarah Martin.
Matilda was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers Johnnie & Amil Roe.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Chris Sorensen will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer''s Association, 9135 N. Meridian St., Ste. B-4, Indianapolis, IN 46209 in memory of Matilda.
