M. Evelyn Grubbs, 76, went home to be with the Lord at Ball Memorial Hospital June 8, 2010 exactly ten years to the day of her beloved husbands passing, following a brief illness.
Matilda was born January 6, 1934, in Odon the daughter of Jesse and Lora Ketchem, and was a graduate of Royerton High School.
Mrs. Grubbs was a member of the Southside Church of the Nazarene and part of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Avondale Sympathy Club. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Karla Hanger, (companion, Donald R. Culy), Muncie; a son, William "Sandy" Grubbs, Gaston; a sister, Louise Ketchem, Bicknell; two grandsons, Reverend Jimmie Hamm, (wife, Felicia), Gaston, and Scott Hanger, Muncie; a granddaughter, Alicia Hanger, Muncie; two great-grandchildren, Seth and Caleb Hamm, Gaston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over fifty years, James W. Grubbs; a daughter, Jamalyn Faye Maxwell; a grandson, Timothy Ray Hamm; four brothers; and four sisters.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010 at Southside Church of the Nazarene with Pastor C. A. Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Parson Mortuary, or one hour prior to time of service Friday at the Church.
