Maxine Rowe, 92, passed away Wednesday morning, June 24, 2009 at Westminster Village.
She was born April 10, 1917 in Warsaw, Indiana, the daughter of Viola (Fisher) Overholser and William Overholser. Maxine received her B.S. Degree from Manchester College and her Masters Degree in Special Education from Ball State University. She taught Special Education for Muncie Community Schools for several years. Most of her teaching career was at Morrison Mock in Muncie and she also taught at schools in Atwood, Indiana; Akron, Ohio; Boone Grove, Indiana; North Webster, Indiana; Merrillville, Indiana and Crown Point, Indiana.
She was a member of Fountain Square United Methodist Church; Pi Lambda Theta Sorority and the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Bagley, (husband-Earl Lee Jr.), Fairmount and Shirley Lane, Grand Rapids, Michigan; one sister, Evelyn Peterson, Oregon; four grandchildren, Kerry A. (Bagley) Crabbs, (husband-Derek), Ocoee, Florida, Joel B. Bagley, (wife-Misty), Washington, Illinois, Stephanie Shephard, (husband-Donovan), Grand Rapids, Michigan and Melissa Lane, East Lansing, Michigan; two great grandchildren, Kaleb T. Crabbs, Ocoee, Florida and Bradie R. Crabbs, Ocoee, Florida; one step daughter, Jeanne Arthur, Muncie; one step-son, Lloyd Jack Rowe, (wife-Von), Kent, Washington; ten step grandchildren, Tony Arthur, (wife-Barb), Parker City, Sheri Etta Arthur, Muncie, Matthew Arthur, Muncie, Sherry Frost, (husband-Tim), Muncie, David Rittenhouse, (wife-Kay), Farmland, Mike Rittenhouse, (wife-Becky), Farmland, Kelly Rittenhouse, Parker City, Bret Rittenhouse, Parker City, Lloyd Rowe, (wife-Holly), Virginia and Ruth Glisson, (husband-David), Mississippi; several step great-grandchildren; and several step great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert W. Kyle; her second husband, Lloyd J. Rowe; three brothers, Edward Overholser, Harold Overholser and Floyd Overholser; one sister, Lucille McDaniel; one step grandson, Neal Arthur; one step daughter, Zelma Rittenhouse; and one step son-in-law, Norval Arthur.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Steve Graves officiating.
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday or after 12 noon on Saturday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
