Michael Ellis Swartz, 68, of Muncie, died Thursday morning, March 14th, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born July 18th, 1944 and was the son of the late John E. Jr. & Mazie (Harris) Swartz.
Michael enjoyed bowling, play the guitar, trap and skeet shooting, collecting stamps, photography, and studying history. He had been a tool and die maker and former owner of Ken-Bar. He loved his family and spending time with them.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Julie Jean (Kirtley) Swartz of Muncie; his three children, Amanda Swartz of Fishers, Matt Swartz of Muncie, and Melissa Swartz (Alejandro Diaz Jr.) of Austin TX; three step-children, Jenni May of Gaston, Sara May of Ft. Wayne, and Larry May of Gaston; one brother Pat Swartz (Sharon) of Ronceverte, WV; three step-grandchildren; special cousin Becky Blanchard of Gas City; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Pam Whybrew.
Funeral Services for Michael will be held, Monday, March 18th, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the Gaston United Methodist Church in Gaston, with Pastor John Long officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, March 17th, 2013 at the Gaston United Methodist Church. Memorial Contributions can be made to the charity of the donor''s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Garden View Funeral Home.
