Michael Lee Thomas, 68, of Muncie, died Tuesday morning, February 12th, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born February 15th, 1944 in Evansville, IN., and is the son of John Michael Thomas and the late Frances Louise (Peterson) Thomas.

Michael proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the AM VETS. He enjoyed collecting Indian Artifacts and hunting arrowheads. Michael enjoyed fishing and was an avid Colt''s fan.

Michael is survived by his father John Michael Thomas of Valrico, FL; his loving wife of 43 years Mornie (Bell) Thomas of Muncie; a daughter Heather McKillip of Muncie; a son Andrew Thomas of Muncie; a brother Harold L. Thomas (Sandra) of Springport; four sisters-in-laws, Gladys Hunter of Muncie, Carol Hackney (Travis) of Luray, TN., Judy Hatfield (Stirle) of Belfry, KY., and Ruby Little (Larry) of Dayton, OH.; two brothers-in-laws, Kenneth Bell (Janet) of Athens, OH., and Vernon Bell of Lancaster, OH. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jason McKillip, a sister Jacqueline Lord, in-laws Lora D. and Salena Bell, brother-in-law, Curtis Bell, and two sisters-in-laws, Nimon Cox and Grace Turnbolt.

Funeral Services for Michael will be held Friday, February 15th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Collins Glenn officiating. Burial with Military Honors Conducted by the Delaware County Honor Guard and the United States Army will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
