Michael Joe Wilson of New Castle, Indiana passed away at the age of 69 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. He was born on September 6, 1951 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Donald L. and Mary Anna (Conrad) Wilson.
Michael graduated from Yorktown High School in 1970, served in the United States Army during Vietnam, and worked as a security guard at Sugar Creek. He married Rachel Rae (Carter) McLeland Wilson in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on July 3, 2004. Michael faithfully served the Lord at Crossroads church in New Castle, Indiana.
Michael is survived by his wife, Rachel Rae (Carter) McLeland Wilson of New Castle, Indiana; four children, Michael Anthony Wilson of Muncie, Indiana, Daniel Lewis Wilson (Kelly) of Brownsburg, Indiana, Melissa A. Tracy (John) of Gas City, Indiana, and Shannon A. McLeland (Amy) of Gastonia, North Carolina; one brother, Jeffery Lynn Wilson of Alvord, Texas; three sisters, Debora Sue Van Der Hart of Pella, Iowa, Donna Louise Foxx of Chuckey, Tennessee, and Connie Lee Wilson of Noblesville, Indiana; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Donald L. and Mary Anna (Conrad) Wilson and one brother, Douglas Lewis Wilson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie with funeral services immediately following at 1:00 PM, also in the Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Danny Douglas and with Military Honors. Burial will follow on Monday, June 21, 2021 in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.gardenviewandgardensofmemory.com .
COVID-19 Limitations: Effective Monday, February 8, 2021, Garden View Funeral Home and Gardens of Memory Cemetery are limited to a maximum of 50 people wearing masks. Once the maximum is reached, additional visitors will be permitted for entry only as others exit. Again, masks are still required at both locations.
