Nathan Lee Blankenship, 68, of Muncie, died early Saturday morning, December 22nd, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born, April 30th, 1944 in Muncie, IN. and was the son of the late Nathen & Mary (Storms) Blankenship.
Nathan retired from Delco Remy. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge. He loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife Alma Frances (Sebastian) Blankenship of Muncie; a son Shannon Blankenship (Charleen) of Baltimore, MD.; a daughter Shawn Alberts (Jeff) of Anchorage AK.; two step daughters, Melissa Waugh (Michael) and Kellie Sparks (Victor) both of Muncie; three sisters, Cathy Blankenship, Ruby Ashcraft (David) of San Antonia, TX., and Crystal Daugherty of Muncie; a brother Dave Blankenship of the Philippines; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers Larry Joe Blankenship and Fred Thompson.
Funeral Services for Nathan will be held Thursday, December 27th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Collins Glenn officiating. Burial with Military Honors conducted by the Delaware County Honor Guard will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
