Nellie Pauline "Polly" Dalton, 85, of Muncie, IN went to be with the Lord Tuesday November 4, 2008 at the Albany Health Care Center. She was born on November 7, 1922 in Flagpond, TN, the daughter of Abner and Elzora (Street) Vance. She married Daniel E. Dalton on November 28, 1945 in Washington D.C. whom precedes her in death.
She graduated from public elementary and high schools at Rocky Fork and Erwin TN. During WWII, Polly worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. Shortly after the war, she moved to Muncie. She was active in St Lawrence Church including the Altar and Rosary Society, Cub Scouts, Legion of Mary and the Fifty Plus Club. Polly was a member of the East Central Neighborhood Association, the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and the Avondale sympathy Club.
Surviving relatives include one daughter, Kay Melton of South Bend, four sons, Ronald Dalton (wife Carolyn) of Muncie, Thomas Dalton of Muncie, Lawrence Dalton of Covington, GA and Gregory Dalton (wife Connie) of Muncie, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and God Children
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, brothers and sisters, Howard Vance, Ethel Howell, Homer Vance, Martha Hensley, Myrtle Norton and Floyd Vance
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 8, 2008 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church 820 E. Charles Street Muncie, Indiana, 47303. Father Dennis Goth will officiate the service. Viewing will be on Friday November 7, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Garden View funeral Home 10501 N. State Road 3 Muncie. Entombment will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
