Obituary

Nettie L V (Brown) Mann, age 89, of Eaton passed away on Saturday March 21, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones, at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital, following a short illness. Born on December 14, 1925 in Haleyville, AL, she was the daughter of John Wiley and Sarah Franklin (Crumpton) Brown.
She attended Alabama schools and then became a fabric mill weaver during World War II. Returning home from Mississippi on a bus with her sister, Nettie met the love of her life. It turned out that this man Cecil Arlie Mann was from her hometown, they were married on May 18, 1946. Nettie and Cecil moved to Muncie in 1952.
Nettie was a very loving mother and homemaker. Once the children were grown, she became a nursing assistant at Parkview Nursing Home for 25 years, where she cared for others. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved going to MamMaws house. She loved nothing more than family vacations where the more the merrier was the norm. She also loved camping, fishing, walking on the beach, quilting, embroidery, and bragging when she caught the first fish.
Nettie attended and was a charter member of the Gaston Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters Shirley Ann Troxell and Sharon LaVonne (Leroy) Hahn both of Muncie and Sheila Jean (Robert) Wilburn of Eaton; grandchildren Sara Troxell of Albany, Nina (Kenneth) Bartling of Muncie, Tina Thompson of Yorktown, and Jeremy (Teresa) Ferguson of Dunkirk; great-grandchildren Autumn Troxell, Amanda Sylvester, Andrew Bartling, Max Thompson, Jenna, Sabrenna, and Allen Ferguson, Jordan, Andrea, and Grace Overla, and Caine Hudson, Odin, and Ivan Ferguson; sister-in-law LaVelle Wright of Birmingham, AL; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil Arlie Mann in 2006, son-in-law Vernal Troxell, 6 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Funeral services for Nettie will be held at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 N. Indiana 3, Muncie. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
Memorial contributions in memory of Nettie may be made to the Alzheimer''s Association.
