Nila Ruth Emenhiser Kite Miller
Nila Ruth Emenhiser Kite Miller, 83, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on January 6, 2023.
Nila was born on August 22, 1939 in Muncie, Indiana, the youngest daughter of Mearl Sylvester Emenhiser, a machinist and farmer, and Opal Lavon Oard, a homemaker. Nila was named after the physician who delivered her. Nila's parents and her brother Wilfred predeceased her.
Nila grew up in Muncie, spending her childhood helping out on her parents' small Muncie farm. A 1957 graduate of Muncie's Royerton High School, Nila attended Indiana University. While she was a student at Indiana University, Nila was a candidate for Tyronian Queen. She used to laugh about campus posters which read "Nila for Queen."
Nila married the two great loves in her life which, in turn, led to her greatest joys, being a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
On November 22, 1959, Nila married Donald Paul Kite and they had three children, Donald Bradley Kite, Sr., born on Nila and Don's one year anniversary, Becky Kay (Kite) Seling, and Julie Ann (Kite) Buckler. Nila's first husband, Don, passed away on October 19,1971.

At various points in her life, including when she resided in Muncie, Indiana, Cockeysville, Maryland, and Ebony, Virginia, Nila enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Nila truly enjoyed life and her family will long remember how happy she was spending time with her late husband Larry and their extended family at Virginia's Lake Gaston.
Nila also enjoyed participating in fun activities when they presented themselves. She was an extra in the 1994 John Waters film 'Serial Mom,' which was filmed in Towson, Maryland and starred Kathleen Turner.
