Nora R. (Brock) Sims, 84, went to be with her Lord Friday afternoon, November 12, 2010, at Parker City Health and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.
She was born April 4, 1926, in Jonesville, Kentucky, the daughter of L. Russell and Elva R. (Stewart) Brock. Nora graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1943. She married Orville C. Sims, on November 28, 1944.
Mrs. Sims worked for Ball Brothers, Acme Warehouse, John Francis Brokerage and B & C Services in Muncie as an office manager. She was a member of Industry United Methodist Church. Nora enjoyed Bible Study and was self-taught to play the organ. She loved all animals, especially her own.
Survivors include her son, Joseph T. Sims (wife-Kathryn), Muncie; her loving sister, Peggie E. Francis, Muncie; three grand daughters, Tina Crabtree, Muncie; Jody Lutz, Muncie; Katie Elsbury, Indianapolis; one grandson, Darrel Crabtree, Muncie; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Crabtree, Tanner Crabtree, Savanna Lutz; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orville C. Sims on March 6, 2010, and two brothers, Herchel and Garlen Brock.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor David Schwarz officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie. Family and friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at the Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, or one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
