Ola Catherine Swoveland, 84, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Ball Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Marion, August 25, 1924, the daughter of Eli and Agnes (Thorn) Kierstead, graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1941, and moved to Muncie in the early 40's.
Catherine was a member of Delco Sympathy Club, Sigma Beta Sorority, Delta Chapter, for 55 years, Marsh Bowling League, loved working in her flower garden, enjoyed being with her family, and retired from Marsh Supermarket after 28 years as a bookkeeper. She also received her pilot's license in the early 40's.
Survivors include three sons, Robert R. Swoveland, Muncie, Denis R. Swoveland, (wife, Diane), Muncie, and Randall C. Swoveland, (wife, Kay) Daleville; two daughters, Lana F. Patterson, (companion, Jack Reed), Yorktown, and Roxanne G. Parker, (husband, Curtis) Sulphur Springs; eighteen grandchildren, thirty Great-grandchildren; one great- great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, C. Robert. Swoveland, one brother, and three sisters.
Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2009, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating,
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN.
Friends may call, Thursday, July 30, 2009, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 5-8 p.m. or one hour prior to service time on Friday.
