Opal L. Stockton, 92, of Albany, died Tuesday evening, February 26th, 2013 at her residence. She was born December 16th, 1920 in Gadsden, Alabama and was the daughter of the late Irving L. & Mary (Compton) Beshears.
Opal loved being with her family and friends. She enjoyed going to the lakes, camping, and playing bingo. Opal had been employed proudly for ten years as a Union worker at Linen Thread in Alabama.
She is survived by three daughters, Celia Pearcy (Dave) of Portland, Carol Smith (Richard) of Muncie, and Callie Wilkerson (Orval) of Albany; seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great grandchildren; a sister Vera Brand of Alexandria, AL; and a brother Rubeun Beshears (Barbara) of Walnut Grove, AL.; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Stockton; two daughters, Marie Vore and Francis Beavers; three sisters, Gladys Hatcher, Beatrice Starling, and Win Taylor; a brother Irvin Beshears.
Funeral Services for Opal will be held Monday, March 4th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
