Orville D. "Doc" Carney Jr.  79, of Muncie passed away Monday February 28, 2023 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital after battling heart disease for many years. He was born June 16, 1943 in Wesson, Mississippi to the late Orville D. Carney and Wilma L (Keenan) Carney.

As an Army brat he attended schools in Wesson; West Point, Kentucky; West Germany and Muncie, graduating from Muncie Central in 1961. He joined the Army shortly after, serving with the 82nd Airborne, Fort Bragg, NC; 8th Special Forces, Fort Gulick, Panama and two tours in Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces in Nha Trang Vietnam.

He was a man of many talents working as an insurance adjustor, political campaign manager, recording studio manager, newspaper writer and editor and a pioneer of online forums and websites among many other endeavors.

He is survived by his daughters Laura Ann Spears (David); Andrea North (Rob), his sons Sean Carney (Stephanie); Kevin Carney (Jen) and his brothers Robin Carney (Anita) and Tim Carney (Sharon); he is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two of his sons; Aaron and Brian Carney, a brother; John W. Carney and his little furry buddy's Schnitzel, Speedy and Petey. Per Doc's wishes there will be no services, his ashes will be interred at Gardens of Memory at a later date. Memorials In Doc's name may be sent to the DAV, VFW or other veteran's organizations.
