Oscar W. Clark, 90, well known retired minister, died early Monday morning, April 19, 2010 at the Waters of Yorktown following an extended illness.
He was born in Redkey, the son of John E. and Mary Etta (Romans) Clark.
He graduated from Redkey High School in 1938, later served with the Navy during WW II, and spent most of his life in this area.
Mr. Clark was employed for more than twenty years with Marsh Supermarkets prior to his retirement and later with Indiana Glass.
At the age of 59, he graduated from Mt. Vernon Nazarene College with a degree in Ministry. He served several Nazarene churches in the Ohio District before becoming an Ordained Minister at the age of 74.
Following his retirement from the Ohio District, in 1995, Rev. Clark and his wife returned to Muncie and became members of First Church of the Nazarene. He served the rest of his life as Senior Adult calling Pastor for First Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are his wife of more than seventy years, Audrey (Bousman) Clark; four children, Norma McClellan (husband, Sonny), Muncie, William "Bill" Clark (wife, Rozetta), Portland, Mary Miller (husband, Malcolm) Muncie, and Louise Harting (husband, David) Muncie; nine grandchildren, Debbie Gary (husband, Keith), Mike Clark (wife, Lori), Carl Clark (wife, Yvonne), Letitia (Tisha) Stone (husband, Todd), Stephanie Stout (husband, Ron), Jeff Harting (wife, Mendi), Bruce Wiemer (wife, Kerri), Bradly Wiemer (wife, Jobina), and Kristen Ross (husband, Billy); twenty-five great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Martha Cummings; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; and a grandson, Rusty McClellan.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010 at First Church of the Nazarene, 3101 North Benton Road.
Rev. Mark Dill will be officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie with Military Rites by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard and the Navy.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the church or one hour prior to service time on Thursday at the church.
