Patricia Ann Klingensmith passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Aurora, Colorado. She was born on January 21, 1947 in Oneida, TN, to Austin (Bud) Slaven and Wilda (Clark) Slaven. She moved with her parents and her sister to Muncie, IN in 1950.

Patricia attended Yorktown and Forest Park Elementary Schools, Wilson Junior High School and graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1965.

After graduation, she joined the U.S. Air Force and completed basic training in Texas before being stationed in New Jersey.  Part of her responsibilities included tracking downed U.S. airmen in Vietnam so they could be rescued.

While in the Air Force, she met and later married William Lee Klingensmith, from Pennsylvania, on July 15, 1966.  He and Patricia lived in Muncie after leaving the Air Force and later moved to Satsuma, FL.  After her husband passed, she moved back to Muncie where she lived during her later retirement years.

Patricia graduated from Amber's Beauty School and operated her own beauty salon. Later, she was employed at Ball Corporation in Muncie. After moving to FL, she was employed with a printing business and later drove a school bus until she retired.

Patricia had many hobbies and interests. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, caring for her many plants and pets, quilting, music, motorcycle riding, cooking, and shopping.  She also loved spending time with her family.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee, and her father, Austin Slaven.  She is survived by her son, William Lee Klingensmith II (wife Tammy); grandchildren, Collena Nicole Grems (husband Waylon) and Jacob Scott Klingensmith; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Nicole Olter, Darrien Skyler Olter, and Pippa Klingensmith, all of FL; her mother, Wilda Slaven of Muncie and sisters, Janice Fine-Bickell (husband Kent) of Westminster, CO, June Seymour (husband Dan) of Gulf Shores, AL, Barbara Bullard (husband Stacy) of Plainfield, IN, Brenda Mohler (husband Charles) of Muncie as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie, IN with Pastor Jeff Hughes of Union Chapel Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
