Patricia Louise Whitney Patterson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our precious mother, Patricia (Patty) Patterson at home surrounded by those that she loved the most, her children, on January 2, 2023.

Mom was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 16, 1935 to Robert W. and Dorthea Jean (Clemmer) Whitney.

The family, which included younger brother Bobby, and her dear Mamaw Clemmer moved to Muncie in the early 1940's. She was so proud that her Mamaw lived with them and always talked about the wonderful bread pudding that she would make for them. Mom tried for years to duplicate that recipe, unsuccessfully.

Pat was a proud Muncie Bearcat, graduating in 1953. She married Gene R. Brown and together they had Kelly, Jackie and Stephanie. As sometimes happens they divorced and she later married William T. (Bill) Patterson. With her marriage to Bill, she gained two bonus daughters, Kelly and Kristy.

Bill and Pat were able to spend over 20 wonderful winters in Punta Gorda and Spring Hill, Florida where they made many dear friends.
Pat worked as a legal secretary at several different law firms in Muncie. Eventually, she found her favorite niche as Executive Secretary at the Ball State Foundation. She enjoyed her work there and made several life long friends. She was a member of and volunteered at Hazelwood Christian Church.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert E. Whitney, her husband, William T. Patterson and her daughter Kristy Bloss.

Surviving are her children, Kelvin (Dianne) Brown, Fairview, TN, Jacalyn (Fiance Brett Carpenter) Michael, Anderson, IN, Stephanie (David) Redfield, Muncie, IN, and Kelly (Garry) Autry, Indianapolis, IN, Grandchildren, Sarah Brown, Megan (Stan) Sullivan, Jared Brown, Joshua (Morgan) Michael, Kristen (Kyle) Noble, Jordan (Lacy) Michael, Jenna O'Donohue, Eric and Lauren Redfield, Kyle (Linda) Autry, Lucas (Angela) Autry, Danny Bloss and Sarah (Marc) Martinez along with 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews across the country. Also, lifelong friends Mary Briggs and Judy Gambrell.

The family would like to thank IU Ball Hospice for their very special care of our mother. You helped us keep her Home-Going journey exactly as she wanted it to be: at home with her children.

Celebration of life will be Monday, January 9, 2023 from 11:00 a.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. St. Rd. 3, Muncie, IN., 47303. Service will be at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Eric Brotheridge officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens Of Memory.
