Peggy E. McCartney of Muncie, Indiana passed away at the age of 87 at home on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. She was born on December 15, 1933 in Farmland, Indiana to the late Orville and Florence (Ford) Read.
Peggy graduated from high school and began her work as a Credit Clerk for Indiana Michigan Power, where she served for 33 years. She married Charles McCartney in Muncie, Indiana on May 23, 1952. She enjoyed listening to music at the Eagles and had been a member of the Moose Lodge.
Peggy is survived by her nephew, Randy Wright of Yorktown, Indiana; nieces, Michele Carter (Don) of Muncie, Indiana, Linda Peters of Texas, and Jamie Jones of Anderson, Indiana; sister-in-law, Gearldine Read of Anderson, Indiana; and great nieces, Nicole Nuckols (Craig) of Selma, Indiana, Zoey Barga (Bracken) of Muncie, Indiana and Brynn Nuckols of Selma, Indiana.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Florence (Ford) Read; husband, Charles McCartney; one brother, Rex Read; and three sisters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 PM, also in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.gardenviewandgardensofmemory.com .
COVID-19 Limitations: Effective Monday, February 8, 2021, Garden View Funeral Home and Gardens of Memory Cemetery are limited to a maximum of 50 people wearing masks. Once the maximum is reached, additional visitors will be permitted for entry only as others exit. Again, masks are still required at both locations.
