Phillip Norman Walters, 72, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Watters of Yorktown following an extended illness.
Norman was born in Muncie on November 8, 1937, the son of Pauline Wood and attended Selma High School.
Mr. Walters was employed for over twenty years with Delaware County Highway Garage until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of American Legion Post #19, Eagles Post #231, and Teamsters Local #135. Norman enjoyed farming and going to auctions.
Survivors include his wife of over thirty-eight years, Justine "Tina" Walters, Albany; three sons, Phillip Walters, (wife, Kimberly), Hartford City, Mark Reading, (Barbara), Dunkirk, and Steven Reading, (wife, Amanda), Paoli; four daughters, Phyllis Johnson, (husband, Boyd), Muncie, Kathy Johnson, (husband, Gregory), Muncie, Laura Adams, (husband, Bobbie), Muncie and Judy Reading, California; two sisters, Kathleen Norton, Muncie, and Wilma Roy, Muncie; a special nephew, Paul Walters Jr., (wife, Marilyn), Muncie; a special niece, Kaley Walters, Muncie; a special grandchild, Tyler Reading, fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a step father, Warren Wood; and two brothers, Paul E. Walters Sr., Gary Walters.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Bobby Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Parson Mortuary or one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
