Obituary

Phyllis Ann (Gribble) Davis, 94, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at Brickyard Healthcare after a long battle with dementia.

Phyllis was born in Muncie, Indiana on December 21, 1931, and was the youngest daughter of the late Eddie F. and Blanche S. () Gribble.

She attended Muncie school graduating in 1950. Phyllis lived most of her life in Muncie and became a registered nurse in 1953, beginning her career at Ball Memorial Hospital.

She married the love of her life, Floyd R. Davis, on September 13, 1953. They were married for 54 wonderful years until his death in 2007. In 1955, Phyllis became a “stay at home mom’ to care for their three children: Larry, Mark and Jan. When Phyllis returned to nursing several years later, she became a DON and worked at Parkview Nursing Center and Rose-Wood Manor.

Phyllis loved working crossword puzzles, reading and being with her children and granddaughters. For many years, she and her husband enjoyed entertaining their families and friends at their summer lake cottage in northern Indiana. Her favorite color was pink, and she was a breast cancer survivor, twice.

Phyllis is survived by her two sons, Larry R. Davis, Mark A. (Catherine) Davis; daughter, Jan (Jay) Morgan; granddaughters: Rieanna (Noah) Taylor, Kayla (Bobby) Fuller, Alyssa Davis and Abby and Megan Morgan; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was also preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Cook; brothers, Wayne, Ralph, Ray Gribble; daughter-in-law, Susanna Davis; along with several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Phyllis will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. SR3 in Muncie, Indiana at 12:30 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery where Phyllis will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband who has been patiently waiting for her.

The family would like to thank the many wonderful employees at Brickyard Healthcare who took care of Phyllis, particularly nurse’s Jamie, Julie and Alicia; aids Robin, Lanette and Danielle. The family would also like to thank heart to heart hospice for the loving care and attention they gave Phyllis.
