Phyllis J. Kendrick, 88, on Friday July 25, 2025, Phyllis Jean Kendrick left this life to join her husband of almost 64 yrs James U Kendrick Jr. who passed in 2018.

Phyllis was born in a farmhouse in Warren on October 21, 1936 to Esther Maxine Chopson Hess Wolfe and Cletus Ignacious Hess both preceding her in death. She married her high school sweetie Jim Kendrick the first Saturday after her 18th birthday. They started out in Huntington IN, before moving to Hartford City with three children, IN 1970.

Phyllis was the at home mom who cooked, cleaned, watched her favorite soaps, hauled kids to practices and lessons,   was a den mother and a Girl Scout leader for years finally taking her turn at running the Blackford County Girl Scouts and day camps. She enjoyed camping, bridge, her friends, and all her grandchildren who called her mawmaw.

Phyllis is survived by her children John D Kendrick of New Bloomfield, MO and family; Dasha Rives and children Gavin, Kaylee, & Colton, Jacquey (Gerald) Summers and children Paige, Jacob, Briana, & Zoie. Also Jennifer and Victoria

Jean A (Tracy) Hughes of Hartford City and family; Jennifer Bell Butcher and her daughter Jayden; Alex (Maranda) Bell and family, Aubrey, Brilynn, Nova, and Krew; Jake (Brooke) Bell and their girls Rose and Wren; and Lydia Hughes (Jacob Spears) and their son Carter due in October.

Julie D (Jeffrey) Russell of Carlisle OH and family; Jimi (Stephanie) Henderson and  family Peyote Henderson; Vincent (Alexis) Henderson and their children Ivy and Lucius;  Kyle (Whitney) McCloud; Josh (Thelma) Russell.

Also surviving are sisters in law Mattie (Mickey) Wallace, Tuolomne CA and Nancy (John) Weatherford, Ripon CA, Helen Stevens, Huntington, IN, Caroline Allen, Huntington, IN.

Preceding her in death include her husband, parents, brothers in law Clyde Stevens, Windell and Nona Stevens, Glenn Stevens, Elton Stevens, and Gary Stevens and step father Arthur N.E. Wolfe.

As she requested to be cremated and her burial will happen at a future date.
