Phyllis Jean (McKinney) Millikan "Phid" peacefully passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018.  She died as she lived, with grace and dignity, in her home surrounded by her family and friends.

Phid was born October 7, 1935, in Albany, Indiana, the second of nine daughters, born to Edward and Clara (Dillon) McKinney.  She graduated from Albany High School in 1953.  Prior to graduation, she was involved in many activities in high school, including cheerleading, band, and also represented her school as Miss Albany in the North Webster Mermaid Festival.

After graduation, she married Robert "Bob" Millikan on July 31, 1953.  They lived in Virginia while Bob was stationed there in the Army.  While there, Phid took a job at the Pentagon in the Mine Warfare Department.  After Bob completed his military service, he and Phid returned to Indiana where they established their home and farm outside of Dunkirk.  In addition to all of her duties on the farm and at home, Phid also worked at Warner Gear as a switchboard operator and receptionist, and later Tiara Exclusives (a division of Indiana Glass).  She retired from Tiara.

Throughout her life, Phid always made the most of everything she did.  She was hard worker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a great friend to everyone.  Sitting around her kitchen table talking to her was a place anyone would want to be, and those who knew her, know what a special place her kitchen table was, simply for Phid's company and conversation.

Phid is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Robert Millikan, her son James R. Millikan (wife Vickie), granddaughters Jennifer Millikan (fiancé Chase Smith), and Jessica Millikan, and great grandson Aidan, sisters Rose Fisher (Jerry), Diana Kieffer (Dave), and Sue Hall. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including her very special niece Marsha Gale Franklin, who was her best friend, adventure partner and caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Evelyn Holloway, Lela Mae Swartz, Barbara Murphy, Wandie Cotton, and Linda Reid.

The family would also like to extend a special thanks to IU Ball Hospice Team, and to special friends of the family, George Justice and Dan Green for the comfort and support they provided.

Funeral Services for Phid will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Sharon Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
